FOC 1974 Virginia City Hillclimb

Legendary auto journalist Larry Crane recently emailed us this classic story on the 1974 Virginia City Hillclimb, and we thought it would be fun to share. This was a Ferrari club event, and some of the cars they were racing at the time are nearly priceless now! If you look at the list of drivers from that year, here are a few I thought are interesting:

1] D. Love is David Love. He still owns and races that very same 250TR [now worth in the teen million$]
2] S. Earle is Steve, founder of the Monterey Historic Car Races and the whole Monterey Weekend
3] H. Eberlin is Harry, founder of SuperShops
4] R. Tonkin is Ron, founder of all the Ron Tonkin dealerships in Portland Oregon, including Ferrari.
5] B. Schworer is Bill. I know this guy well. There are many stories I share with him.
6] Harley Cluxton was at the time the youngest Ferrari dealer in the U.S., ran the Mirage GTC FIA team with a young driver named Mario Andretti, and is a noted car collector
